ツワブキ

艶のある丸い葉と、秋に咲く鮮やかな黄色い花が美しいツワブキ。

海辺の岩場や林縁にも自生する丈夫な多年草で、日陰でも瑞々しい景観をつくれることから、日本庭園やナチュラルガーデンでも古くから親しまれてきました。

大きな葉は雨粒や光を柔らかく受け止め、庭に静かな陰影を生み出します。秋になると細く伸びた花茎の先に明るい黄色の花を咲かせ、深まりゆく季節の中で庭に温かさを添えます。

乾燥を嫌い、半日陰〜明るい日陰のしっとりした環境を好むため、雑木の下草や石組み周辺、水辺の植栽にもよく調和します。葉姿を楽しむグラウンド性と、季節を告げる花の存在感を兼ね備えた、日本の風景によく馴染む植物です。

Farfugium japonicum
