GREEN×EXPO 2027 横浜|国際園芸博覧会 出展ガーデン「花鏡」作庭日記① 【着工レポート】

約50年ぶりの開催となる国際園芸博覧会「GREEN×EXPO 2027」(横浜)。私たちはグループを組み、庭を出展します。グループ名は「花鏡(ハナカガミ)」。

GREEN×EXPO 2027 is Japan’s first International Horticultural Expo in about 50 years, held in Yokohama. Our team has come together to exhibit a garden under the name “Hanakagami.”

このブログでは、開幕までの作庭(造園・施工)の様子を、着工から少しずつ記録していきます。記念すべき第1回目となる今回は、石組み工事が始まった着工初期の現場レポートと、私たちがこの庭に込めた想いをお伝えします。

In this blog, we’ll be documenting the garden’s construction, step by step, from groundbreaking to opening day. In this first installment, we share an early on-site report from the start of the stonework, along with the thoughts behind this garden.

Construction Progress: Stonework & Delivery

GREEN×EXPO 2027 出展ガーデン「花鏡」の作庭は、まず庭の骨格となる石組みから始まりました。現場での搬入・据え付け作業の様子をご紹介します。

Construction of “Hanakagami,” our exhibition garden for GREEN×EXPO 2027, began with the stonework that forms the garden’s structural framework. Here’s a look at the delivery and placement work on site.

来場者へ伝えたいこと|「花鏡」が目指す庭のコンセプト

A Message to Our Visitors

日本は四季の変化が豊かな国です。春の芽吹き、夏の緑、秋の枯れ色、冬の静けさ——その移ろいの中に、私たちは「美しさ」を見出してきました。

Japan is a country of rich seasonal change. Spring buds, summer green, autumn’s fading colors, winter’s quiet stillness — within that passage of time, we have always found beauty.

しかしそれは、丁寧に手を加えられた完璧な庭の美しさではありません。野原の片隅にひっそり咲く花、風に揺れる草むら、苔むした石——そんな、ただそこにあるだけの風景が、ふと心を打つことがあります。

But this isn’t the beauty of a meticulously manicured, perfect garden. A flower quietly blooming in the corner of a field, grasses swaying in the wind, a moss-covered stone — scenery that simply exists, just as it is, can suddenly move us.

そういう美しさは、日本人だけのものではないはずです。「素敵だな」と感じる心、「懐かしいな」と思う感覚——それは、国も言葉も文化も違っていても、人間であれば誰もが持っている普遍的な感覚ではないでしょうか。

That kind of beauty shouldn’t belong to Japanese people alone. The feeling of “how lovely” or “how nostalgic” — isn’t that a universal sense shared by all people, regardless of country, language, or culture?

このガーデンは、国内外のガーデナーや庭師、そして若い世代が力を合わせてつくり上げます。開催期間を通じて季節とともに姿を変えながら、訪れるたびに新しい表情を見せてくれるでしょう。

This garden is being created through the combined efforts of gardeners from Japan and abroad, together with a younger generation of talent. Throughout the exhibition, it will change with the seasons, showing a new expression each time you visit.

ここに来てくださった方に、ただひとつ感じてほしいのです。「あ、美しいな」——その一瞬の感覚こそが、万国共通の、人類が明日へ向かうための原点だと、私たちは信じています。

There’s just one thing we hope every visitor will feel: that fleeting moment of “ah, how beautiful.” We believe that feeling — universal to all people — is the very starting point from which humanity moves toward tomorrow.
